Groundbreaking in its time, Medium Cool captured the sentiments of 1968, a tumultuous year in the U.S. Weaving fiction and documentary footage of the riots at the Chicago Democratic Convention, Haskell Wexler pushed the boundaries of the medium to create an ambitious cinematic experiment, which still resonates today. Join us at LAFF as Wexler, along with one of the stars of the film, actor/director Peter Bonerz share tales from the making of Medium Cool.

The all-day event – commemorating Modesto’s special place in the legacy of this unique and influential film – will feature screenings of American Graffiti; educational presentations on Modesto’s historical connection to the film and the film’s impact; appearances by cast and crew; exhibits of local artifacts, as well as American Graffiti memorabilia; and a tribute concert featuring artists performing songs from the soundtrack.
